Bournemouth Football Club is an English football team currently playing in the Wessex League Premier Division. Their nickname is "The Poppies", and they are often known as Bournemouth Poppies to avoid confusion with the Football League club A.F.C. Bournemouth. The club play at Victoria Park, Namu Road, in Bournemouth.
Bournemouth were formed on 11 September 1875 as Bournemouth Rovers, making them one of the oldest clubs in southern England. In 1888 the club moved to Dean Park, and changed their name to Bournemouth Dean Park. The stay was short-lived, however, and in 1890 they moved on to Victoria Park and took up their current name.
As Bournemouth Rovers, they were founder members of the Hampshire FA, and the Bournemouth FA. They were also founder members of the Hampshire League, and up to joining the Wessex League in 1986 had spent nearly their entire existence playing in it.
Note: Flags indicate national team as has been defined under FIFA eligibility rules. Players may hold more than one non-FIFA nationality.
